West’s needle shields fit most standard prefillable syringes. They’re free of natural rubber and comply with the major pharmacopoeias. Choosing a standard formulation means fast order fulfillment. A Solution for Ozone Cracking
For a solution to the problem of needle shield cracking, manufacturers can select needle shields molded from West’s new elastomeric formula, 7028/55. These components are highly resistant to ozone cracking and are significantly less susceptible to frosting or hazing.
Formula 7028/55 is a polyisoprene thermoset-based elastomer. In ozone cracking tests, components molded from Formula 7028/55 have out-performed other polyisoprene and natural rubber elastomers.
Components molded from Formula 7028/55 are compatible with steam, gamma and EtO sterilisation and are compliant with Ph.Eur. Type I and with applicable USP standards.
