H.O. West Foundation
Supporting Our Communities

West has a long history of charitable giving and community service in the areas where West maintains operations throughout the United States. In 1972, The H.O. West Foundation was created to honor Herman O. West, the founder of the Company.
Since that time, the Foundation has supported non-profit (501(c) (3)) organizations that serve the community, cultural, educational and healthcare needs in their area. The organizations the Foundation supports are in the Greater Philadelphia Area and Southeastern Pennsylvania and in the communities surrounding our manufacturing location.
The mission of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance to qualified, non-profit organizations that serve the cultural, health, education and community service needs of the areas and communities where the Company maintains operations; to encourage employee involvement in financial support of education through its Matching Gifts to Education Program; to encourage employee involvement in supporting non-profit organizations of their choice through the Matching Gifts to Non-Profit Organizations; to fund the Scholarship Program for the children of employees; and to support the special needs of the at-risk population, especially children, through the various fund raising programs of West without Borders.
Eligible charitable organization may submit grant proposals by providing the following information:
  • The extent of services the organization or program is providing
  • A financial statement indicating the sources of funds and how those funds are dispersed
  • The future needs and services of the program over the next few years
  • Documentation of tax exempt status
Proposals should be directed to:
Mr. Richard D. Luzzi
The H.O. West Foundation
530 Herman O. West Drive
Exton, PA 19341
Meetings are held in late spring (May/June) and late fall (November/December).
Additionally, the Foundation supports several other charitable giving programs:
The Company encourages all locations to organize annual United Way employee campaigns, and the Foundation matches funds collected on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
The Matching Gifts to Education Program is designed to assist eligible employees in supporting educational institutions of their choice. The Foundation matches gifts to eligible schools (four-year and two-year colleges and graduate, professional and secondary schools within the United States) from a minimum of $25 to a maximum of $1,000 per employee, per calendar year. Employees, retirees and members of West’s Board of Directors may use this form to request their matching gift.
The Matching Gifts to Non-Profit Organizations Program is designed to encourage employees to join with the Company and Foundation in financial support to non-profit organizations of their choice. The Program allows all full-time active employees in North America, excluding Puerto Rico, to contribute to an eligible non-profit organization and have their contribution matched dollar-for-dollar. Employees may make gifts to eligible organizations from a minimum of $25 to a maximum of $500 per employee per calendar year.
The Scholarship Program awards up to seven scholarships per year to high school seniors who will be attending college the fall after graduation. The scholarship may only be applied toward tuition costs up to $3,000 per year for up to four years. The scholarship is based on academic excellence and extra curricular school or community activities. This scholarship is limited to active North American employees' children.
In addition, the Foundation supports the West without Borders and Fox Chase Cancer Center annual charitable campaigns.
