West Research & Innovation Group focuses on the expansion of West’s device and systems portfolio to provide patients and healthcare workers with safe, effective and convenient administration of injectable drugs. West’s systems are applicable to a range of specific therapeutic areas, including diabetes, oncology, autoimmune diseases and vaccines.
The R&I Group has the ability to tap into the rich history and experience of West as we bring forward new innovative technologies to meet the unmet needs of the end user. Additionally, the group aligns with other industry leaders to develop products to better suit our customers through collaboration, acquisition and licensing , with the goal to ultimately improve the user experience.
Utilizing industry standard best practices in design and industrial design, the innovation group has the experience and ability to manage projects from the early conceptualization and ideation phases through to proven feasibility and fully functional prototypes. Through this process the group will work closely with external partners as well as internal resources from within the West organization to design and develop a product that is ready to be optimized for assembly and scale-up for production.
In addition, the R&I Group works closely with Insight Product Development, based in Chicago, who have an extensive history in medical product development, research and market definition, and user-centered design from an early concept stage.
