West’s Innovation Group focuses on the expansion of West’s involvement in the area of devices and systems to provide patients and health care workers with safe, effective and convenient administration of injectable drugs. West’s systems are applicable to a range of specific therapeutic areas, including diabetes, oncology, autoimmune diseases and vaccines.
Activities include internal development, in conjunction with all aspects of the West organization, as well as potential collaboration/licensing/acquisition activities.
The innovation group can manage projects through the initial concept development through to prototyping, sampling, small-scale production, scale-up and through to manufacture. Through this process the group will work closely with external partners, including design and engineering services, as well as internal resources from within the West organization, including the Tech Group and Medimop;
The Tech Group, a West company, is an industry leader in precision injection molding and assembly of complex drug delivery systems and devices. Medimop provides expertise in the design, development and manufacture of sterile devices for safe and effective drug reconstitution and administration.
In addition, the Innovation group works closely with Insight Product Development, based in Chicago, who provide innovative development and engineering services from an early concept stage.
The combination of West’s experience and capabilities with both internal and external services, under the leadership of the Innovation group, provides a market-leading full-service offering to customers who require innovative solutions to support their product lifecycle initiatives.
