West Introduces a Novel Intradermal Adapter for Disposable Syringes

West is pleased to announce the commercial introduction of its ID Adapter, an accessory designed to help improve consistency and reliability of intradermal injections for vaccines and other injectable drugs.

“We are delighted to offer our customers a solution that can improve reliability and performance of intradermal injections and meet growing market demands in this area,” said John Paproski, President, Pharmaceutical Delivery Systems.

The ID adapter, which recently received 510K clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, complements West’s portfolio of prefilled syringe offerings and technologies.  Designed for use with  1 mL allergy syringes, the ID adapter consists of a sterile, disposable, single-use injection molded part that:

-Snaps on to a 1 mL fixed needle disposable allergy syringe with needles ½-inch long (27, 28, 29 gauge)
-Guides the angle and limits the depth of needle penetration into the intradermal layer
-Uses current drug/vaccine vials and commercially available syringes, minimizing disruptions to current clinical practice
