West is pleased to announce that its Tech Group Rockford facility has received a 2014 Lilly Global Supplier Award. Lilly presented the award at a special global recognition ceremony on April 30, 2014, at Lilly corporate headquarters, Indianapolis, Indiana.

West is pleased to announce that it has joined the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI). PSCI is a group of major pharmaceutical companies, all of which are West customers, that formed to “support pharmaceutical suppliers in efforts to operate in a manner consistent with industry expectations about ethics, labor, health and safety, environment and management systems.” PSCI members believe that through the application of principles for responsible supply chain management, better social, economic and environmental outcomes will result for all involved in the pharmaceutical supply chain. This includes improved conditions for workers, economic development and a cleaner environment for local communities.

At some point early in the development of a drug product, pharmaceutical manufacturers must make a very important choice.  How will the final product be delivered to the patient?  That choice leads to a variety of additional choices regarding drug formulations, stability, container closure systems and the various interactions of the drug with its packaging, and ultimately, patient compliance.

During the week of June 24 – 28, the West Ambassador Interns had the opportunity to mentor a group of high school seniors from the Downingtown S.T.E.M. Academy. The students were participating in a practicum at West as a requirement for graduation. During the week, each intern was assigned a S.T.E.M. student who shadowed the interns’ daily activities. We taught them about our respective departments and the responsibilities we have as part of the West team. The students also received lab tours and participated in a telepresence Lunch and Learn with the Scottsdale, Ariz., facility to learn more about West and its products.
