Hurricane Impact Update
West, like many of its customers, is monitoring the severe and unfortunate devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. To assist those in need who have been affected by either of these storms, West has made a corporate donation to the American Red Cross, and our employees are fundraising to help with the recovery efforts. In addition to the terrible impact to the people living in these regions, many businesses have been affected.
Hurricane Irma has impacted regions where West has three plants: St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida; and Puerto Rico. Our site in Puerto Rico was fully operational as of Friday, September 8.
West’s operations have not been disrupted by Hurricane Harvey, and the company has no production sites in the affected areas. However, West does receive several raw materials from a limited number of suppliers located in this region of the United States. We continue to believe the company is currently well-inventoried on raw materials sourced from these suppliers.
Supply Chain Management:
A team of West supply chain and procurement professionals is monitoring each situation closely, and is in daily contact with our suppliers and logistics partners in the affected areas. The team is constantly reconciling the information provided by those partners against current inventory and demand outlook. In addition, teams are meeting daily to discuss risk mitigation efforts and to update contingency plans, including alternate sourcing options where relevant.
West will continue to provide relevant updates to any affected customers. If you would like to receive email updates from West regarding the impact of Harvey and Irma, please subscribe to our Hurricane Impact Alert.
