West Recognizes Engineers Week

The celebration of Engineers Week was started in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers in conjunction with President George Washington's birthday. President Washington is considered as the nation's first engineer, notably for his survey work. Prior to the start of National Engineers Week, the University of Missouri College of Engineering began celebrating the world's first Engineers' Week in 1903, 48 years before the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Engineers Week

National Engineers Week is observed by more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies. The purpose of Engineers Week is to call attention to the contributions to society that engineers make. It is also a time to emphasize the importance of engineering skills, such as mathematics, science and other technical skills” or something like that.

At West, we have a talented team of engineers that focus on device manufacturing engineering, elastomer and seal process engineering, facility and equipment engineering, automation engineering, and packaging engineering. West’s engineering teams strive to implement new technology, develop and introduce process improvements, standards, life cycle management and validation in select process areas, helping to advance and transform West’s growing business, support capital investments and contribute to addressing complex assignments.

Our engineers are responsible for implementing sustainable processes and for ensuring that safe qualified processes lead to consistent design characteristics and production levels.Over the past year, our team of engineers has played a critical role in enabling West to meet the increasing demands of customers, including many facility modifications, existing equipment moves, additional tooling and bringing in many pieces of new equipment.

As we kick off Engineers Week, we’d like to recognize our West engineers around the globe. Be sure to check out our social media channels this week to see spotlights of some of our engineer team members.
