Cyber Security – Our Shared Responsibility

Today, we are more connected than ever before. We rely on the Internet to stay informed and to perform our day-to-day jobs. It’s hard to imagine our lives without the Internet; yet for all of its advantages, increased connectivity brings increased risks for cybercrime. Recognizing the importance of cyber security, President Obama designated October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), as has the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA). At West, we are committed to ensuring the ongoing success of our business processes and operations, which requires information that is accurate, complete, consistent and, above all, secure. This makes cyber security one of West’s most important priorities.

West is committed to managing the risks associated with information security. To that end, West has established a Global Information Security Council charged with ensuring that our company’s information security practices are adhered to consistently across the globe. Everyone at West who has access to information systems is responsible to comply with the Corporate Information Security Policy and to protect and maintain the confidentiality of company information and intellectual property. Since reporting security incidents or concerns is key to ensuring that our company information remains secure, we are all responsible for reporting unusual or unexpected activity as soon as we become aware of it.

We also recognize our responsibility for keeping customer, employee and business partner information safe, which requires our systems to be protected fully. That’s why West IT invests in tools and technologies to protect the information that we receive and store from our partners. Finally, we are demonstrating our commitment to security by actively participating in Cyber Security Awareness Month.  By raising awareness around this important topic, West employees will understand how important it is for each of us to keep West information systems and networks secure and reliable.
