The celebration of Engineers Week was started in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers in conjunction with President George Washington's birthday. President Washington is considered as the nation's first engineer, notably for his survey work. Prior to the start of National Engineers Week, the University of Missouri College of Engineering began celebrating the world's first Engineers' Week in 1903, 48 years before the National Society of Professional Engineers.
National Engineers Week is observed by more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies. The purpose of Engineers Week is to call attention to the contributions to society that engineers make. It is also a time to emphasize the importance of engineering skills, such as mathematics, science and other technical skills” or something like that.

For those of us who have been using social media for a while, it’s inevitable to have received a request to connect from someone whom you don’t know. While it can be tempting to accept the request to expand your social network and open up new horizons, you could also be exposing yourself and others connected to you to a malicious social engineering risk. If you’re not familiar with the term, a social engineer runs what used to be called a “con game.” For example, a person using social engineering might try to get you to reveal sensitive information, known as phishing.
In the third and final installment of the West On The Road visit with our Clearwater, Florida facility, we dive a little bit deeper into the day-to-day processes and outside-the-box thinking that allows us to deliver packaging components and drug delivery systems of the highest quality.
