Volunteer Spotlight- Kinston Team (Habitat for Humanity)
At West, our commitment to the community goes beyond our day-to-day work. The Kinston team had the pleasure of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro-Wayne to celebrate their 25th anniversary and help with the McNair Heights development project. During the event, the team participated in the wall-raising ceremony, a significant milestone that marks the beginning of vertical construction on a project that is nearly three years in the making.

Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to building and repairing homes to expand access to affordable housing. The organization operates across 70 countries worldwide, including all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico.
This year Habitat for Humanity International celebrates its 50th anniversary and has launched an ambitious “50 for 50” initiative, aiming to improve access to affordable housing for 50 million people worldwide.
Team members from the Kinston site worked together to assemble wall frames and support construction efforts, demonstrating collaboration and a shared commitment to strengthening the local community.
“One of the most meaningful parts of this experience was connecting with colleagues I don’t usually have the chance to work with,” said Ivana Pantic, Sr. Quality Engineer. “It was inspiring to come together across teams for a shared purpose and make a difference together. Volunteering has always been important in my life, so this felt like a wonderful opportunity to give back while also feeling more connected.”

The event served as a reminder that volunteerism can create lasting impact. Opportunities like this not only support families in need but also strengthen connections within our own teams.
“When we show up and build together, we’re not just constructing homes: we’re strengthening communities,” said Kayla Homar, Sr. HR Business Partner. Thank you to the Kinston volunteers for representing West and making a meaningful change in our local community.
