Advancing Our Purpose: Highlights from West’s 2025 Corporate Sustainability Report

Each year, West’s Corporate Sustainability Report shares how we are advancing our strategy while staying grounded in our purpose; to improve patient lives. The 2025 report reflects meaningful progress across our global organization and reinforces how sustainability is embedded into our business. In 2025, we continued to move forward across three core pillars; People, Process and Planet, while strengthening governance and transparency.

A major milestone during the year was progress on renewable energy projects secured through our Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA). These projects reached key development stages in 2025 and are positioned to begin contributing toward our climate goals starting in 2026.

Strengthening Strategy Through Double Materiality

Stakeholder engagement remains foundational to our sustainability strategy. Building on our long-standing GRI-aligned materiality approach, West conducted its first Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) in 2024 to align with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Through engagement with more than 50 stakeholders and evaluation of over 150 sustainability-related impacts, risks and opportunities, we sharpened our focus on the issues most important to our business and society. Climate change, water stewardship, pollution, circular economy, workforce engagement, patient safety and strong governance continue to shape our priorities and disclosures in this year’s report.

The DMA evaluated both:

  • Impact materiality – Effects on society and the environment
  • Financial materiality – Sustainability-related business risks and opportunities

These findings directly inform the disclosures and priorities outlined in the 2025 report.

People: Building a High-Performance, Purpose-Led Culture

Our sustainability strategy begins with our team members; the people who make up our culture and embody the meaning of One West Team. We are committed to creating a workplace where team members feel safe, valued and empowered to grow.

Safety performance continues to be a standout achievement. Over the past decade, West has reduced its recordable injury rate by more than 75%, reaching an industry-leading level in 2025. Targeted safety programs, such as enhanced powered industrial truck training, have delivered measurable results, reinforcing our belief that safety leadership starts at the top and is sustained at every level of the organization.

Engagement is equally important. More than 85% of team members participated in our most recent global engagement survey, providing valuable insights that help us continuously strengthen our culture. Our One West Team value underscores this commitment, ensuring that inclusion, respect and career development remain central to our long-term success.

To support our 2030 People priorities, we are focused on delivering:

  • A comprehensive workplace safety program that has consistently delivered year-over-year reductions in workplace injuries.
  • An engaging culture where team members feel respected and valued.
  • Programming that supports team members’ career development and attracts future talent to our organization.
  • Opportunities to volunteer and give back to the broader communities in which we live and work.
Health & Safety Excellence
  • More than 75% reduction in recordable injury rate (RIR) over 10 years
    • 2.03 in 2015 → 0.45 in 2025
  • 76% reduction in powered industrial truck-related events following enhanced global training

Safety is embedded in our culture, supported by our HSE Governance Council and site-level HSE professionals across our global manufacturing network.

Engagement & Inclusion
  • Over 85% participation in our 2024 “Our Voices” Global Engagement Survey
  • Ongoing investment in career development, inclusion and leadership programs
Community Impact

Through charitable grants, the West without Borders campaign and the Herman O. West Foundation, we continue supporting:

  • STEM education
  • Healthcare access
  • Sustainability initiatives

Process: Quality, Compliance and Responsible Operations

Quality is foundational to West’s operations. The belief that “every product has a patient’s name on it” reinforces the impact our work has on patient safety.

In 2025, West proactively assessed more than 1,700 global regulatory updates affecting containment and delivery systems. Cross-functional teams updated hundreds of product standards and dossiers to maintain compliance and support customers navigating evolving regulatory requirements; including major updates such as the 2025 revisions to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

Responsible sourcing also advanced during the year. West enhanced its Scope 3 greenhouse gas inventory and disclosed supply chain emissions for the first time. In May 2026, our near-term greenhouse gas reduction targets; covering Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions, received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a significant step forward in aligning our strategy with global climate science.

Sustainability considerations are increasingly integrated into our R&D processes as well. Environmental and human factors are evaluated early in product development, ensuring alignment with patient needs, regulatory expectations and long-term sustainability goals.

Planet: Accelerating Climate and Environmental Action

As a company focused on improving human health, we recognize that environmental stewardship is inseparable from our mission.

Our climate strategy includes ambitious targets: reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030, cutting Scope 3 emissions by 37.5% by 2035 and increasing renewable electricity sourcing to 50% by 2030. In 2025, we enhanced our Scope 3 disclosures in line with TCFD recommendations and began obtaining third-party limited assurance of our Scope 1 and 2 emissions data.

Water and waste management also remain priorities. During 2025, we achieved a 5.3% reduction in water intensity and strengthened waste data governance across key manufacturing sites. We refined our landfill diversion methodology to align more closely with leading frameworks, reinforcing transparency and accountability.

Governance: Oversight That Drives Accountability

Strong governance supports every aspect of our sustainability strategy. Our Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team provide oversight of sustainability risks, opportunities and performance, integrating these considerations into enterprise strategy and long-term value creation. As regulatory expectations and stakeholder priorities evolve, we continue to enhance our governance framework to ensure alignment and accountability.

Looking Ahead

The progress captured in our 2025 Corporate Sustainability Report reflects steady advancement toward our 2030 and 2035 targets. With SBTi-validated climate goals, strengthened data governance and renewable energy projects coming online in 2026, West is well positioned to continue delivering sustainable value for patients, customers, team members and shareholders.
