Recently, interns of West’s global headquarters in Exton, Pennsylvania, hosted a Final Showcase Event where they highlighted various elements of their overall internship experience. The showcase, which included each intern creating a poster to highlight and present their experience, served as a final opportunity for the interns to continue to network with other members of the West team as they finished the ninth week of the ten-week West Ambassador Internship Program.
Over the course of the event, the interns actively engaged in conversations with West team members and leadership in which they were able to showcase their skills and the projects they completed during their internships. After the event, the interns reflected on the meaningful work that they had done over the summer, discussing how this internship experience exceeded most of their pre-conceived expectations when they began the summer program.
Scientific Insights intern, James Gaus, reflected positively on the final showcase event and noted that, “after explaining my poster to them, it was interesting to learn how my projects impacted their work here at West. One team member even thanked me because he was going to use the data I gathered with a West customer. The presentation showed me that my work here was having an impact, and it has made my time here that much more meaningful.”
While the showcase event gave the opportunity to showcase skill sets and strengths, it also gave the opportunity for interns to continue to work on developing their own soft skills in a corporate setting.
Sales Operations intern, Evan Wlock, spoke of the event stating, “I have always been a little nervous of presentations, but I can say I was comfortable with having to present the work I have done this summer. The showcase allowed me to improve my communication and presentation skills.”
The Final Showcase Event was a valuable opportunity for interns to come together and present how their work contributed to the overall mission at West, and also enabled other team members and the leadership team to recognize and celebrate the efforts and contributions of our 2019 intern class this summer.

<p><span style="background: white;">The West Ambassador Internship Program is a well-established summer intern program that traditionally runs for ten weeks from the end of May to the beginning of August. Interns are key contributors to our company and this fully paid internship program is instrumental in shaping future careers. We value the insight and fresh perspective our interns bring to the table. Each year, the goal of the program is to give real-world practical experience to college students that are near entry level employment, to give them an opportunity to work alongside industry experts.</span><span> </span><span>We work by the side of our interns to ensure they have <span style="background: white;">the opportunity to learn, discover and apply new found knowledge within their fields.</span></span></p><p><span style="background: white;">This summer, the 2019 intern class consisted of 24 interns across the US, 16 of them residing at the global headquarters in Exton, Pennsylvania. The remaining eight interns were stationed at other West US locations in the offices of Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona, as well as Kinston, North Carolina and Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. </span></p>
For 10 years, West has offered a summer internship in many of its U.S. locations. The Ambassador Internship Program has grown from hiring two interns in its first year to hiring 38 interns in 2018. <br />
West’s Global 2016 Internship Program has, once again, quickly come to a close. This year a group of over 40 interns, chosen from a pool of 1,156 applicants, provided a wealth of knowledge, new perspectives, and unique strengths and skill sets to the business. Interns were placed at our West locations around the globe.
<span style="color: black;">The final week of the Ambassador Internship program is coming to a close, and the 31 students who have been hard at work since June now have the opportunity to showcase what they have learned and reflect upon the entire experience during the program wrap-up. </span>
Last month, interns from Exton and the Washington, New Jersey Innovation Center, journeyed to West’s Jersey Shore manufacturing plant—that everyone soon learned was not at the beach. The visit provided an ideal opportunity to witness the operations of West’s manufacturing business. Upon arrival, interns completed the gowning process in order to adhere to the plant’s safety and quality standards. Then, after listening to a brief presentation on the history and differentiating capabilities of the facility, began the tour.
