This report analyzes Article 2116 4023/50 Gray Westar pistons and indicates that gamma irradiation does not adversely affect the piston’s compliance.

To determine how gamma irradiation affects the chemical and physical characteristics of the piston, a study was conducted on ready-to-use (RU) pistons for use with prefillable syringe systems.
