West without Borders Kicks off 2012 Charitable Fund Drive

The West without Borders fundraising initiative had a terrific year in 2011 and as we kick off the 2012 campaign, we can look forward to another great year of aiding charities in the communities where West employees live and work. In 2011, West employees contributed more than $210,000 to aid local charities.

Thanks to the generous support of West’s employees, West without Borders has raised more than $1 million to support charities around the globe.

Last year, West employees helped to provide care and support for children in need. As part of our campaign, clothes were provided for children in Clearwater, Fla., and the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan received a donation. Bikes were supplied to needy children in Kearney, Neb., and meals were supplied to underprivileged children in Ra’anana, Israel.

In Lionville, in addition to donations of time and money for the Evan Brady Foundation and Aaron’s Acres, our support of Canine Partners for Life – a 2010 charity selection – continued as puppy-in-training “Dookie” graduated to full-time service dog trainee, where she will train to become a seizure alert dog or companion to a disabled individual. Lionville’s Carol Cully raised Dookie and helped give the puppy a variety of socializing experiences, including attending a baseball game and taking a ride in a small airplane.

Here’s to another great year of giving!
