At West, our goal is to partner with customers to mitigate risks of drug/packaging incompatibility, container/device and functional challenges. Although we consider critical quality attributes during development of drug packaging and delivery systems, there can be knowledge gaps of various interfaces based on the specific application of use, such as component-to-container, container-to-device, and container-to-drug.
Containment/delivery systems for sensitive biologic drugs must provide the chemical, physical, and performance properties required to ensure product quality through shelf life. Further, they must be compatible with fill/finish operations, and enable functional performance during administration. Legacy rubber components may no longer meet the increasing technical and regulatory requirements of current and future biologic drug products.
The impact of a cancer diagnosis can be stressful. Questions such as “how will I tell my family?”, “how will I afford to pay my bills?”, “will I ever work again?” and even “will I survive?” <span>are at the forefront of the patient’s mind as they process their diagnosis and begin treatment</span>. So, how can the patient experience with treatment be supported? By offering the best quality of care.
On March 12, 2016, West sponsored the Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology (GETT) Event at West Chester East High School in Pennsylvania.
Small things sometimes come in large packages. When it comes to pharmaceutical components, small items like stoppers and plungers are often sold in quantities large enough to supply drug products to the world. But sometimes, and in particular during the early stages of drug development, large quantities are just too much of a good thing.
