By connecting team members with diversity of thought and backgrounds, our EBRGs enrich workplace experiences and cultivate a sustainable business. The WIN Group is focused on mentoring, educating and developing women to foster their professional success, and enabling West to achieve its business goals.
To empower the development of female leaders at West, WIN provides education, leadership and community outreach opportunities for our team members. Our WIN chapters host events that give team members the chance to develop various types of professional and personal skills, including public speaking, time management, negotiation, emotional intelligence, personal branding and more. Team members leave these events armed with insight that can aid in their own career development and help them develop and expand their networks both within West and our communities.
West is committed to expanding our network of EBRGs to engage our diverse team members around the world and will be adding two additional groups over the coming months. Part 1 of this two part blog series, gave a high-level overview of the new ICH guideline <em>Q12 Technical and Regulatory Considerations for Pharmaceutical Product Lifecycle Management</em>. In part 2 of this blog series, some of the key takeaways will be discussed in more detail. <em>Q12</em> is intended to help companies demonstrate increased product and process knowledge, and understand which post-approval changes will require a regulatory submission, as well as the level of reporting for each category.
West’s Kinston, NC facility was recently recognized with an Honorable Mention at the 2016 International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering’s (ISPE) Facility of the Year Awards’ ceremony on June 7, 2016, in Bethesda, Maryland. The award acknowledged the West team’s creativity and innovation during the Ready-to-Sterilize (RS) Expansion project, which was completed in June 2015.

In 2011, the US FDA issued an advisory regarding the potential formation of glass lamellae in vials containing injectable drugs. This was in response to several drug recalls in 2010-11. The number of glass-related drug recalls has since declined greatly. This no doubt is due to key actions taken by pharmaceutical manufacturers before the drug goes to market, even during the development phases.
I’ve worked at West for 28 years. I lead our Venture Group, Global Labs, and Data Science Team; I’ve spent most of my career in R&D. There’s an expectation from our customers that West will lead the way in developing new products. Ones that are going to be better for patients, easier to use and more cost efficient for the health system. That expectation drives a lot of the R&D work we do.
