West without Borders in Germany – Making Dreams Come True

West’s team members in Germany have spent the past month on charitable activities as part of the 2013 West without Borders fundraising initiative. Donations inspired volunteers to prepare lunch, snacks and desserts for their colleagues. Other activities included a raffle, various food sales and a flea market at plants in Eschweiler, Stolberg and the European Headquarters at Kiefernweg to help raise money for local children in need. This year’s motto was “Gemeinsam erfüllen wir Herzenswünsche” (Together we make dreams come true).

In addition, West colleagues were able to participate in a cooking class, and dietary and health workshop. One of the highlight of this year’s West without Borders campaign involved the European Management Team donning chef’s caps to serve lunch on June 13. The event attracted the attention of local media who came to witness the fun. The reporters were eager to learn about the West without Borders initiative and help increase donations for the charity strahlemaennchen.de, which when translated means “little radiating guys” to reflect the joy of the children helped.

strahlemaennchen.de is a foundation that fulfills the wishes of children who suffer from cancer. Childhood cancer is an extreme burden for the entire family. By making a dream come true, and providing support to the family, the employees of strahlemaennchen.de offer the children and their families happy moments and lasting memories. The West team in Germany enjoyed this year’s West without Borders campaign and take great pride in working together for a good cause.

West without Borders is not affiliated with Doctors Without Borders®, which is a registered service mark of Bureau International de Médecins Sans Frontières.
