In 2004, a small group of West team members started a group dedicated to philanthropic work and giving back at West, naming the team West without Borders.* 20 years later, that group has grown to over 70 team members across the globe, leading the charge to give back year after year. As West’s charity arm that’s led exclusively by team members, West without Borders has made a worldwide impact with a passion for community support that is the embodiment of West’s culture and employee experience.
The following brief video highlights the accomplishments of the program over the past 20 years and the generous contributions and efforts of so many individuals at West.
West without Borders represents all giving, fundraising and volunteering by team members at West, and in two decades, this giving program has raised almost $10 million for over 250 charities and non-profits in over 15 countries. Each year, West without Borders supports West’s Global Food Drive, volunteerism and team member fundraising, as well as team member donations into an Employee Emergency Fund. Throughout the past 20 years, thousands of West team members have been involved in this program, making a significant impact on our global communities.
As the 2024 West without Borders campaigns begin globally across West sites, all team members will have the opportunity to get involved for this special 20th Anniversary milestone.
*West without Borders is not affiliated with Doctors Without Borders®, which is a registered service mark of Bureau International de Medecins San Frontieres.
The definitions of <em>personalized medicine</em> vary. However, all of them indicate that the once popular therapy approach of “<em>one drug fits all</em>” is outdated. The Council of the European Union defines personalized medicine as <em>“[p]roviding the right treatment to the right patient, at the right dose at the right time.”</em>[1].
In 2023, West turned 100. As I look back across the year, I am proud to be part of this amazing organization. Our 100th year in service was a time to reflect on our heritage, celebrate everything we have achieved and look forward to our future with a renewed sense of determination.

West’s Ambassador Interns in Exton assisted the local West Chester Food Cupboard’s move into their new, larger facility. They packed and loaded 80,000 pounds of food at the Food Cupboard’s previous site, and then moved the supplies to the new facility. The West Chester Food Cupboard’s move enables the organization to serve even more clients, and was made possible through the Ambassador Interns’ help.
