TR 2020/224: Evaluation of West’s Vial Adapters for Cell Therapy Applications

This technical report summarizes a study done to examine the compatibility of West's vented vial adapters with the cell-based products and processes.

The work presented here was done by West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc.’s (West), in collaboration with Loughborough University, to evaluate the suitability of West’s polycarbonate vial adapters (VA) as a needle-free device to withdraw cellular contents from a vial container. The sensitivity of cells to process parameters and an interest in optimized clinical handling were primary drivers for this study.
