Thanks to the hard work of the West without Borders’ committee this year, the Kearney, Neb., team members had an exceptional campaign. This year, team members chose the Family Advocacy Network (FAN) as the local campaign recipient.
FAN is a comprehensive, victim-focused program that provides a coordinated response to abuse cases by law enforcement, Health and Human Services, county prosecutors and healthcare professionals. FAN provides forensic interviews, medical examinations and referral sources for adults and children who experience:
As a Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance, FAN also assists in the coordination of county child abuse investigation teams, identifying system issues, encouraging case review and arranging for or providing requested training for professionals.
This year’s activities included a biscuits and gravy breakfast, a picnic with hamburgers and hot dogs, raffles and VIP parking spots. Team members also participated in a motorcycle fun run, and have agreed to help with the Color for a Cause 5K, which the organization will sponsor in September. In addition to monetary donations, donations of gift cards, office supplies, cleaning supplies, paper products, clothes and items such as crayons and coloring books poured in.
After touring the facility, team members saw additional needs for the organization and have secured the donation of removing and installing new carpeting throughout the building.

Come one, come all to the 2014 West without Borders campaign! From preliminary planning to the final one-ring circus, the 2014 West without Borders campaign in Kinston, N.C., was a whole lot of clowning around in the name of a good cause. This year, Kinston team members supported three charities: Relay for Life Kids’ Walk, Kid’s Cafe and Shriners’ Hospital for Children’s Transportation Fund.
As part of the annual West without Borders fundraising campaign, West’s Puerto Rico employees chose to support Centro Margarita, Inc., a 33-year-old center that specializes in rehabilitating children with special needs and/or developmental disabilities.
In December, team members from West’s Medimop subsidiary spent a half-day with children with special needs. The group traveled to their school and kindergarten where they celebrated the Chanukah holiday with them. The celebration included arts and crafts, music, cakes and drinks.
Our commitment to philanthropy has been embedded in West’s culture for more than 95 years, and is an integral part of our overall Corporate Responsibility Program. In particular, 2019 was a banner year for philanthropy at West. Our team members closed out the decade with considerable personal investments in both time and resources dedicated to improving their local communities and promoting a healthier world. Our Culture of Giving is a key aspect of the team member experience at all of West’s global sites.
<span style="color: #151515;">Each year in Denmark, approximately 160 children under the age of 14 are diagnosed with cancer. The diagnosis is life changing in many ways for the child and his or her family. Little things that were once taken for granted, like going to the movies or the zoo, may no longer be possible. Often, families are isolated for long periods of time due to a sick child’s weakened immune system.</span>
