We established a set of both quantitative and qualitative objectives to ensure progress across our environment-related focal points within our strategy. These focus areas include our Climate Strategy, Waste Management in Operational Processes, R&D for Environmental Initiatives, as well as the enhancement of a Responsible Supply Chain. Our targets for 2030 include:
• Increasing renewable electricity usage to 50%
• Improving energy intensity by 15%
• Reducing absolute emissions by 40%
• Lowering water intensity by 15%
• Achieving the elimination of 100% of operational waste to landfill
• Collaborating with customers to reduce, reuse and recycle secondary packaging
• Partnering with customers to identify environmental enhancements throughout product lifecycles
• Gathering additional Scope 3 emissions data from our supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate these emissions
These goals are the result of collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders and represent the baseline of what West aspires to achieve. Notably, the SBTi roadmap will refine and clarify our objectives further. We expect to achieve validation of our SBTi targets later in 2025.
At West, commitment to environmental stewardship is deeply ingrained in every facet of our operations, from our global supply chain engagements to collaborations with customers and philanthropic partners. We adhere to the highest sustainability standards, positioning ourselves as leaders in climate protection. Our mission is to create a better future for healthcare, humanity and the planet.
Our collaboration with the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles as an Official Sustainability Partner underscores our focus on community-driven environmental benefits. In 2024 alone, this partnership led to the planting of over 1,100 trees, playing a role in offsetting our carbon footprint.
